The material was chosen for its sustainability and unique design qualities

Knoll Printing & Packaging, a leader in the deluxe packaging industry for 40 years, has introduced the latest Knoll Ecoform Molded Pulp technical achievement with the launch of INFINIMENT COTY PARIS FRAGRANCE.
INFINIMENT COTY PARIS is the most ambitious and niche fragrance project to date from Coty and advances the use of Knoll Ecoform molded pulp for secondary packaging in the industry.
The Knoll Ecoform Molded Pulp clamshell was designed as a second skin for the new fragrance collection and stands as an ode to minimalism. In an extremely complex feat of asymmetry, it reveals a perfectly flat face on one side and boldly pronounced facets on another, single-handedly epitomizing the spirit of the entire collection. The project highlights Knoll’s technical expertise with Molded Pulp with the highest level of quality and high-end appearance.
The exterior of the Knoll Ecoform Molded Pulp clamshell has a smooth and luxury appearance with no imperfections. Pad printing was utilized to add intricate copy on the face of the clamshell with a crisp finish. The same tooling was utilized across all scents, and a secondary label was applied to differentiate 14 unique perfumes. Multiple layers of molded pulp were utilized to create friction closure and to conceal a discreet paper hinge. Multiple layers of pulp also helped to achieve the greatest technical challenge to securely hold the glass on the interior while the exterior can still stack. The clamshell can also stand, achieving a difficult balance between the round cap and angular base.
Knoll Ecoform molded pulp is plastic free, made of 100% Knoll Ecoform vegetable pulp, consisting of 60% FSC-certified fast-growing bamboo (sustainable biobased and renewable plant) and 40% bagasse fibers (agricultural by-product of sugar cane production), along with water. These materials are biodegradable and recyclable, ensuring that the packaging has minimal impact on the environment.
The clamshell has a minimal appearance with no flange, perfectly capturing the mission of the fragrance. The second-skin design was extraordinarily difficult to engineer to achieve a friction-fit closure, protect the bottle and maintain a seamless appearance. The overall appearance is smooth and conveys the new standard of sustainable luxury packaging.
Benjamin Cohen, Chief Marketing Officer at Knoll Packaging, shared “The latest Knoll Ecoform Molded Pulp launch for INFINIMENT COTY PARIS continues to show the technical possibilities with the sustainable material. It achieves a new standard for sustainable luxury packaging since the clamshell does not have a flange and has a completely flawless appearance when closed. The project also achieves a harmonious relationship between the mission of the fragrance and the material. We continue to see acceptance of molded pulp in the luxury industry and this finished product showcases the possibilities of Knoll Ecoform Molded Pulp.”
