Knoll Packaging, the leader of sustainable luxury packaging, has debuted its latest Knoll Ecoform Molded Pulp manufactured concept, a festive holiday ornament. This continues Knoll’s mission to use design innovation to create positive change in the industry and drive disruptive innovation across all sectors with new materials and original concepts.

The manufactured pulp ornament was designed with multiple layers of molded pulp to create a neck which locates the 2 sides of the round shape. The unique tab closure was engineered for additional security and provides a loop for the ornament to hang from. Decorative pad printing was utilized on the exterior, which is a technical challenge on rounded surfaces. Knoll Ecoform is a plant- based material made from bamboo, wood, and bagasse, which can be used as an alternative to thermoformed plastic platforms or as a 100% pulp packaging solution. The material is recyclable and biodegradable. It can also be molded, cut to order and color matched.

Knoll Packaging recently launched their Knoll Ecoform Molded Pulp Compacts and refill solutions. Knoll spent over 2 years on research and develop for their 100% Knoll Ecoform molded pulp compacts. This latest innovation can replace traditional plastic make-up compacts and is engineered with a magnet-free option and removable mirror. The compact utilizes two layers of molded pulp, which has a smooth luxury feel finish on the interior and exterior of the compact. The design is fully customizable to meet the aesthetic of a brand, including any configuration of pans. Additional decoration also includes embossing and stamping or adding a FSC paper mask for additional decoration. It is Knoll's goal to eliminate plastics from their supply chain, and this new molded fiber solution for compacts continues their mission to create a better world. Knoll Ecoform Molded Pulp Compacts recently won Gold at the 2023 Pentawards for Best Sustainable Design Concept.

Benjamin Cohen, Chief Marketing Officer, said “Knoll Ecoform was introduced onto the market over 5 years ago to eliminate plastics and was originally considered to replace thermoformed platforms. Due to its cosmetics quality and ability to be formed into unique shapes, molded pulp evolved into 100% packaging solutions. We’re excited about the pulp ornament as its recyclable and uses the materials in a unique shape. The size is fully customizable and unique table closure allows it to hang securely. It is also extraordinarily difficult to decorate pulp on rounded surfaces, so we’re thrilled with the results of the pad printing. We are continuing to push the boundaries of the materials and find new ways to implement it onto the market.”

Knoll Packaging will present its latest innovations at Paris Packaging Week (PCD) on January 17-18. The global team looks forward to sharing more at Booth H60.
