Knoll Celebrates World Environment Day
The New York team participated in a local beach clean-up
June 5, 2019
To celebrate the 2019 World Environment Day, Knoll’s New York office participated in a local beach clean-up. World Environment Day is the United Nations day for encouraging worldwide awareness and action to protect our environment. Since it began in 1974, the event has grown to become a global platform for public outreach that is widely celebrated in over 100 countries.
Some of our fondest memories include time with loved ones at our local beaches and parks. Since marine debris continues to be an issue across the world, the New York team spent the day removing trash from the local Long Island beach. This will help protect marine animals from being sick, injured, or killed. Data of the items picked up was also collected, including, weight, location, and more, to help provide insight into the larger challenges.
Laura Favicchia, New York Project Manager, shared “What a great feeling it is to be a part of taking care of our local environment and making sure that it stays beautiful and clean! We were presented with a Certificate from New York State Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation for cleaning up the beach. We are proud to help make our world a better place than we found it!”
